The Reverend Mark Peake

Mark was born in Burlington,Rev. Mark Peake North Carolina but grew up in the heart of Pennsylvania Dutch country. Mark attended Elizabethtown College in Pennsylvania where he earned a B.A. in History. From there Mark traveled to Boston’s historic north shore where he earned the Master of Divinity degree from Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary.

Mark describes himself as a Christ follower and as passionate both for issues of personal living and social justice firmly rooted in a Biblical ethic. Mark served churches in Michigan and New Jersey until he was called to Monterey in the Summer of 2010.

Mark and Kimberley (a native of Santa Cruz) have been married since 1997 and have two school aged boys.

The Reverend Katie Day

A native of Jacksonville, Florida, Katie received her BA in Theatre Arts from Furman University in 2001.  She received her Masters of Divinity in 2006 from Columbia Theological Seminary, and served churches in Georgia and Florida before being called to FPC Monterey in 2013.  She lives with her husband, Kevin, who is also a Presbyterian pastor; their son, Elijah; as well as a cat, Fred, and two dogs, Lola and Mr. Wiggins.  They enjoy pub trivia, disc golf, camping, movies, board games, and reading.

Director of Music (11am Service): John Koza

John Koza earned his Master’s Degree in choral conducting and his Bachelor’s Degree in voice at San José State University.  In addition to conducting the Carmel Bach Festival Youth Chorus he conducts the Camerata Singers, is Director of Music for First Presbyterian Church of Monterey, and teaches at Hartnell College.  John has performed throughout Europe with the Choraliers (San José State University), winning five of the highest awards in the Seghizzi Choral Competition in Gorizia, Italy as well as performing for the World Symposium of Choral Music in Rotterdam.  In September 2000, the American Choral Directors Association published his Master’s Thesis: “Twentieth-Century Choral Settings of Psalm 150” in the Choral Journal.  Well known in the Monterey Bay area for his imaginative programming, John is dedicated to mentoring young singers in the disciplines and joys of choral singing. John leads FPC Monterey’s  Chancel Choir and Handbell Choir.

Director of Children’s Ministry: Linda Thompson 

Linda has a Bachelor’s Degree in Christian Education with a minor in music as well as a Masters Degree in Education. Over many years she has volunteered as a Sunday School Teacher, Christian Education Director, and children’s choir director. She is presently serving part-time as the Children’s Ministry Director here at FPC Monterey.  Linda works alongside an outstanding team of volunteers to provide quality Christian and Bible Education for children from birth through 5th grade. Linda is also a pianist and vocalist with 25+ years of experience leading praise teams and children’s choirs, as well as directing the Christmas Eve Children’s Musical.

Organist: Margaret Bellisomi

Margaret has been playing the piano since before the age of five. In the fifth grade, she was accompanist for her church’s youth choir of about forty members. After moving to Fremont, she received a last minute call to substitute for a church organist and from that Sunday until now, she has been playing the organ every Sunday (almost). In addition to serving at this church, Margaret plays for the choral classes at San Leandro High School, and plays for the Centerville Community Chorale. In her spare time, she teaches piano lessons.
